Trevoh Chalobah Poised to Step in for Marc Guehi in Three Lions Squad
Trevoh Chalobah followed his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the twenty-first pair of brothers to earn caps for the England side.
The Chelsea defender is expected to link up with the Three Lions selection to fill in for injured Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The 26-year-old is set to link up with the team for England's last World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, but it has yet to be made public.
The England team have already secured qualification for the upcoming tournament.
Chalobah was given his first invitation under England head coach Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then earned his first cap against the Senegalese team.
In September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unlucky to be excluded from the squad for qualifying games against Serbia and Andorra, and also did not select him for the following October international break.
Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's development, having awarded him his Chelsea first-team bow in 2021.
Chalobah has featured in all but four fixtures for Chelsea this season, with the team in third place in the Premier League, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the group stage of the Champions League.
Guehi suffered a foot injury in Crystal Palace's Conference League success over the Dutch side last week.
There are set to be other inclusions to the selection. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has announced that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (a concussion) will withdraw from the national team.
