Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world offered its support for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
